Sitting 122: The love of two people
There is nothing in this world so wonderful as the love of two people for each other, there is the sweet sorrow of temporarily parting for a few hours and the sweet expectancy of your journey as you return to the one you love. There is the total commitment of knowing that you wish to spend the rest of your life with the one that you love above all others.
Rhyme and reason are thrown to the wind and you will take on heavy burdens so that you can be together. This type of love does not happen so very often but it is sweet and rewarding when it does. It is also quite rewarding when two people grow together slowly and gradually realise that they have grown to love each other over a number of years.
There are also those who, having committed themselves to a lifetime together, will remain together through feelings of duty or for the sake of the children or even to save themselves from losing face and they can and do have a thoroughly miserable life because of this.
There are those who think that this is quite justified, you have after all made a promise to God that you will spend the rest of your lives together if you have married, and there are those on both sides of the veil who believe in this justification. There are many others, again on both sides of the veil, who think that where there is no love there is no marriage and that you are only making yourselves and those around you miserable by staying together. We would say beloved siblings that there is no right way and there is no wrong way to resolve this situation. It is entirely your own decision whether you stay together or separate but we would add that there is no sin in admitting that you made a mistake by getting married and we would add that your first and main consideration should be that your children should be protected as much as possible from the break up. On the other hand they should not be used as pawns to keep a marriage together or to get at your partner.
You brought them in to the world and it is your responsibility to keep them physically and mentally in harmony.
