Sitting 93: The fruits of the earth

Beloved brother as we draw close this evening we would continue with our talk about the fruits of the earth. Many of you have the idea that there are things which are taboo in the eyes of our Creator. Many of these things are the result of our brothers leading us in the way that THEY THINK we should act. Too many times have you been told not to do something when there is no real reason for you not doing it. There are those who will not consume blood, yet they eat meat which contains a certain amount of blood. Others will not eat anything which is not Kosher and others will not imbibe alcohol So it goes on and on and so often there is no practical reason for these prohibitions other than someone has stated it should not be done. They will often wrap it up as a religious command where God has said it should not be done but when you investigate the real reasons for it you discover that it was, at that time, a sensible thing to do, but circumstances change and when they do the reason for the ban ceases to exist but the ban has become a religious thing and therefore cannot under any circumstances be altered because it was the word of God. There are so many things on the earth which we humans are not allowed to do because someone, somewhere, has forbidden it that it is a wonder that humanity has advanced at all.

Dear brother when you were born it was illegal to do what you are doing now. There are still places on the earth where mediums are not allowed to practice. We know there are those who have fears of things like spiders and frogs and mice and other things and we have sympathy for them because they cannot help their fears, but they are not bans. There are also others who are nauseated at the thought of eating certain things and again this is not a ban.

When you are told you should not do or eat something, think about it and decide for yourself if there is an acceptable reason for not doing it. God gave you free will so he has made no rules for you to follow and we would say to you now that the only rules you should follow are the rules of the land or government and the rules which you yourself have made for yourself. There are no other rules for you to follow, though there are plenty of other people who will insist that you should follow theirs.
