Sitting 138: A God made in man's image

Through the ages man has had many Gods. Some of them have been vengeful and some of them have demanded sacrifices. Some of them have been gods of a particular object or of the trees or the mountains or the water etc. Very few of them have been the living God which, in reality, our Creator is.

It is quite understandable that man will think of his God as being quite like himself and as we all know man is vengeful and demands ransoms to appease his anger at wrong doers.

Even nowadays there are many who believe that God loves us as his children and yet they expect him to insist that we do things his way and then they will tell you what this way is, even though they know no one who has been told what god’s way is. They will of course quote from the Christian bible and the Koran even though no one who wrote the stories in the bible ever knew Jesus. Everything they wrote was second or even third hand and they now expect you to believe that they are Gods words.

There is not a man alive who does not form his own opinion about things and having done so will believe it to be true. It will in a very short time become his truth and it will take form in his mind so that nothing will change it. We applaud him for his steadfastness in sticking to his guns as it were but we would also remind you that though argument is useless you should also stick to your guns in your own mind whilst you agree that his thoughts are true for him.

Find no fault with him for in his mind he is faultless.
