Sitting 149: A peaceful resting place

As we walk through these valleys of the earth with all its different perspectives we often find a small peaceful place during which we can find rest from the trials of our journey. It often surprises us that in the midst of our labours there is a place where we can find peace and tranquillity for a short time. It also surprises us when we find ourselves suddenly knowing exactly what to do in certain situations when we have looked forward to an event with trepidation and sometimes alarm because we are unsure how we will cope. How many times have we done this to ourselves when with a little trust in ourselves we could have ignored the forthcoming event until it arrived and then sorted it out instead of going through it many times in our mind only to find it was not the problem we thought it would be.

We all of us also like to plan ahead but most of us plan too far ahead and then have to change things when something goes wrong.

Have you not heard of the man who had everything. He had worked all of his life arranging everything in the order which would please him and at last his whole future was catered for and he was ready to relax in a carefree and untroubled way of life for the rest of his life.
